THE FORTETO DELLA LUJA FARMING COMPANY came to the current owner, Giancarlo Scaglione, from the original family. The company has been documented since 1926, while the stone cave-cellar and part of the buildings date back to 1700. Up to 1985, the Company was managed as a producer of grapes for sale, and only a small quantity was used to produce wine to be used by the family. The grapes that came from our vineyards were highly considered by the buyers and received particular prizes for their excellent quality.
In 1985, being encouraged by Giacomo Bologna, the over-ripening of the Moscato grapes and the production of the Forteto della Luja Moscato wine started and achieved prestigious acknowledgments and the registration on the Loazzolo d.o.c. late harvesting on the G.U. of 19-05-1992. Mr. Giancarlo Scaglione, the owner, after obtaining his Degree as Wine Specialist, achieved in Alba in 1962, graduated from College in Biological Sciences at the University of Torino. His professional curriculum includes the teaching of Vine-growing and Oenology at the School of Oenology in Alba, the technical management of prestigious companies and the free lancing as a vine growing consultant and co-owner of a research and analysis laboratory. During the last few years his daughter Silvia has come to be an active part of the company, as a business manager, after achieving first her High School degree and then her University degree for the IULM University in Milan. Managing the vineyards is the responsibility of his son Gianni, who has attended the Faculty of Agriculture from the University of Torino.
