BIOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE
Since 2007, the vineyard Forteto della Luja has been involved in a programme to convert all its land to biological agriculture.
The project is certified by Istituto Certificazione Etica e Ambiente (ICEA). Only natural products are used in the vineyard, the fertilisers are organic (manure or compost) and green cover is widely used. Wooden nesting boxes are constructed to encourage the presence of birds. The vines are trained and pruned by hand and the grapes are harvested manually. The crops are grown and rotated according to the biologica! needs of the land.
